KNTJA concerned over slapping of FIR against journalist
Srinagar: Kashmir National TV journalists association (KNTJA) has expressed serios concern over slapping of FIR against Salim Pandit following a report that appeared in Times of India.
In a meeting held in Srinagar the members of KNTJA deliberated on the controversy triggered after a recent news report in Times of India. Without endorsing the story the members were of the view that slapping of an FIR on a senior journalist in such a manner was unwarranted and amounts to attack on the freedom of press in Kashmir.
“In case of any compliant against the reporter, a mechanism of self regulation within the journalist fraternity should be encouraged. The authorities could also take up such a matter with the bodies like Press Council of India for a probe in accordance with guidelines laid down for press,” a statement issued after the meeting said.
