Div Com reviews progress of works under SBM

SRINAGAR, APRIL 03: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer A Khan Tuesday convened a meeting to take stock of progress achieved under centrally-sponsored Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) in the Kashmir Division.

Deputy Commissioners of all the Valley districts including Leh and Kargil participated in the meeting via video-conferencing.

The meeting reviewed the status of works carried under SBM including construction of Individual Household Latrines (IHHLs) and geotagging in various districts of the division.

During the meeting, the District Commissioners apprised the Div Com about the works completed under the project till date and further progress on the ongoing works.

On the occasion, the position of swachhagrahi (cleanliness) in various districts was reviewed threadbare. It was said that Anantnag has completed the construction of 7000 IHHLs, Bandipora 6000, Baramulla 8707, Budgam 8000, Ganderbal 6500, Kulgam 5000, Kupwara 8000 and Pulwama 5000.

The meeting was told that Srinagar has achieved 100 percent target in geotagging of SBM works, whereas Anantnag has completed 81.35%, Bandipora 56%, Baramulla 83.73%, Budgam 63.78%, Ganderbal 87.36%, Pulwama 85.37%, Shopian 82.74%, Leh 67.63%, and Kargil 81.68%.

The DCs assured the Divisional Commissioner that work on all the SBM projects will be completed in a time-bound manner.

Pertinently, the progress on the works is being monitored by Divisional Commissioner’s Office on a weekly basis in order to ensure that the division including Leh and Kargil become open defecation free by October 2018.
