Dy CM pays rich tributes to Mian Dido

JAMMU, APRIL 01: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said that the saga of the iconic warrior and Duggar pride Mian Dido binds us together towards the concept of regional identity that is deeply embedded in the political consciousness of the people of Jammu.
The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at a function organized by Mian Dido Welfare Committee remembering the Dogra Warrior at Jagti, Nagrota here today.
Paying homage to Mian Dido, Dr Singh said that he sacrificed his life for the cause of the people of Jammu and we all must remember and collectively endeavor to tell the people, especially younger generation about the great warrior who represented the untiring fighting spirit.
Younger generation must take inspiration from Mian Dido’s unremitting resistance against exploitation, the Deputy Chief Minister said, adding that, he fought for the dignity and pride of the common people and by imbibing the spirit of working towards harmonious development of the society, it will serve as greatest tribute to the warrior.
Stressing the need for passing on the heritage to the next generation, Dr Singh said that remembering the state’s heroes takes us to our glorious past.
“Pride for which Mian Dido waged a relentless war will always be held high by the people of Jammu”, Dr Singh maintained.
Deputy Chief Minister also interacted with the committee members and locals and assured them that the statue of the Mian Dido will be installed at his birthplace as a remembrance of the selfless contribution of the great warrior.
A Dogri folk cultural programme echoing the reverence of the courage of Mian Dido was also organized to mark the day.
The function was attended by several prominent citizens from all walks of life.
