Jammu, Mar 29:  Vice President Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sartaj Madni on Thursday said the major sigh of relief for the people of Jammu and Kashmir has been PDP’s top agenda and core focus since its inception and the party at present is taking all measures vital to ensure equitable peace and prosperity of all the three regions of the state.

Madni was addressing PDP workers and general public in Jammu’s Guru Nabha Dass Sabha Hall. He said that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed founded PDP with a sole objective to get the state out of the sordid conditions and accord them the rights they were craving for since decades.

The PDP vice President maintained that the Mufti laid the foundation of the PDP by investing all the six decades of his political experience and was successful in making PDP a guiding force in Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape.

“It was the outcome of the earnest efforts of the PDP founder that the people of the state who had to bear the brunt of institutionalised corruption, anarchy and nepotism, are now looking forward to witness new horizons of peace and stability,” he said.

He added that when the PDP formed the government in the state post 2002 elections for the first time, there was a major change witnessed in both the political as well as in the administrative set up of the state. “The PDP is the only party which has been keeping all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir intact and united while prioritising for the equitable growth and fulfilment of the regional aspirations all across,” Madni said in his address.

He added that the present government led by the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has been treading the same path which was shown to the people by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and new era of development is being witnessed in Jammu as well as in the Kashmir region at present.

Madni said that the chief minister has been on forefront in making the system of governance more people friendly and transparent in the state and undo the blunders that the past regime committed.

Asserting that the main aim and objective of the PDP is to guarantee peace and stability in the state, Madni said that the PDP’s earnest efforts in making the Jammu and Kashmir a hub of peace and tranquillity could be gauged by the fact that on all fronts, the government is striving hard to empower youth, strengthen the democratic institutions and make the administration accountable to the general masses.
