Devastating fire destroys four houses, 20 cattle charred to death in Uri

Baramulla: In a devastating fire incident four residential houses and three cowsheds were gutted while as 20 cattle were charred to death at Lachipura Bijhama village of Uri in North Kashmir’s Baramulla.

“As we saw fire flames engulfed the residential houses, we immediately rushed to rescue the family inmates and started firefighting operation. Soon a police party from Police station Bijhama reached on the sport and helped a lot to douse the massive flames. We called fire service but fire tenders could not reach the spot due to bad road connectivity,” said Haji Abdullah Mugal, a resident of the village.

“Four houses and three cowsheds were reduced to ashes while as 20 cattle were charred to death. We have suffered massive damage as all our goods and belongings, animals besides property worth lakhs was reduced to rubble. In four houses nine families were rendered houseless,” he added.

Station House Officer Mohmmed Shafi Geelani confirmed to Kashmir Images that four houses, three cowsheds were gutted and several animals including a buffalo, sheep and goats were charred to death.

Meanwhile, two shops were completely destroyed in a fire incident at Singpora Pattan.
