Kupwara: Timber smugglers attacked a forest official who sustained critical injuries during the attack in Bumhama forests of Kamaraj Forest Division range Kupwara on Tuesday.
The injured forest official was identified as as Ghulam Rasool Mir. The smugglers fled from the spot taking advantage of dense and desolate forests.
The injured Mir said that smugglers were carrying sharp-edged weapons and axes when he was attacked by smugglers.
The smugglers were identified as Shabir Dar and Maqbool Dar residents of Bumhama Kupwara.
