Two drug peddlers arrested in Anantnag

Srinagar, March 24: Continuing with its special drive to eradicate the drug menace from the society,  Anantnag  police arrested  two drug peddlers  from Bijbehara  area of Anantnag.

A police spokesman in a statement said that acting on a tip-off, a police party of Police Station Bijbehara headed by SHO Bijbehara shri Mohd Anzar laid a Naka at Tulkhun crossing .

During checking two persons who were on their way from Tulkhun to Bijbehara carrying two polythene bags, while seeing police party tried to fled from the spot but the alert police party chased and nabbed them tactfully.

During search, police recovered two polythene bags containing 500 grams and 800 grams of  contraband substance (total =1300 grams) from their possession. The drug peddlers were later identified as Mohd Salim Dar son of Gh Ahmad Dar and Hilal Ahmad Sheikh son of Gh Hassan Sheikh both residents of Tulkhun Bijbehara.

In this regard, a case FIR No. 45/2018 under section 16/22 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Bijbehara  and investigation taken up.
