Srinagar, March 24:Tehsildar Ganderbal, Rabia Yousuf and SHO Ganderbal inspector Nissar Hura conducted an awareness campaign with the assistance of  traffic police Ganderbal, representatives of Municipal Committee Ganderbal and Traders Federation Ganderbal with regard to polythene nuisance, footpath encroachment and wrong parking.

Tehsildar said that use of polythene in whatever form has been an environmental nuisance and its non-biodegradable nature has the potential to degrade the environment beyond imagination which needs to be controlled. She stressed upon the shopkeepers and vendors not to use polythene and whosoever use it shall be dealt as per law. She urged upon the concerned officials to form a joint squad and keep a constant vigil on the use of polythene in the market and wherever found should be seized then. She also asked the concerned departments to work in synergy so that Ganderbal becomes polythene free tehsil. The team further directed the vendors not to put their commodities on roads and footpaths. All were warned to desist in future from doing such illegal activities.
