Srinagar, Mar 20: Kashmir Editors Guild (KEG) expressed grief over the demise of senior journalist Maqbool Sahil, who passed away on Tuesday evening here in Srinagar.

Sahil, author of many books, used to write for many publications brought out from Srinagar. He was an avid photographer also.

He was currently working as senior editor with ‘Kashmir Parcham’ and ‘Buland Kashmir’.

Maqbool Sahil, according to reports, suffered a massive heart attack as he fell unconscious while walking in Lal Bazar area of the city. He was found dead soon after, reports said.

Meanwhile, the editor’s body prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

“It is a great loss for the media fraternity as Sahil was a versatile writer and a columnist. We stand with Sahil’s family in this hour of grief and pray for their forbearance to overcome this loss,” KEG said in a statement issued here.

Director Information & Public Relations, Muneer-ul-Islam has also expressed grief and anguish over the demise of veteran journalist author and poet Maqbool Sahil.

The Director Information while praying for eternal peace to the departed soul has expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.

The president and managing committee members of Kashmir Press Club have also expressed shock over sudden demise of Maqbool Sahil, a prolific  Pahari writer and journalist .
