Srinagar, Mar 17: State government on Saturday reiterated its stand on Kathua rape-and-murder case saying there would be no compromise and justice will be done with the family of eight-year old victim Asifa.

Talking to media on the sideline of Buyer-Seller meet at Sheri-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) here, State Finance Minister, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said there are certain misgivings created by the media vis-à-vis the incident, which are unsubstantiated and uncalled-for.

“I would like to assure you that Kathua incident will be taken to logical conclusion with the grace of Almighty Allah and there would be no compromise with as far as delivery of justice is concerned,” Bukhari said, adding that justice will be done with the eight-year-old victim Asifa Banu, who was first brutally raped and then murdered after being abducted in Rasana village in Hiranagar in January this year.

He also claimed that there are no differences between the PDP and ally BJP with regard to the incident.

On being asked to comment about Hurriyat-G chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s refusal to an Intelligence Bureau (IB) official’s offer for talks with the Central government, Bukhari said “I am not as big leader as Geelani Sahab is; he is the tallest leader!”
