Plantation drive starts at Baramulla

BARAMULLA, MARCH 14: Conservator of forests North Circle Irfan Rasool Wani today kick-started plantation drive from the district office complex of Forest department here.

Divisional Forest Officer Waseem Farooq Mir, District Information Officer Aijaz Hussain Malik and various other functionaries of Forest Department were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Irfan Rasool Wani said that the drive was started with the purpose to enhance the green cover of the earth. He said that the department has about 6.5 lakh saplings in the nurseries of the district out of which about 2 lakh saplings have been made available for sale. He reiterated the department’s commitment to planting more and more trees and said that such a practice would have positive repercussions on our environment.

While urging various institutions to plant trees into their office premises, the conservator highlighted various benefits of the plantation on climate and other living creatures. He also said that the department has taken various initiatives for the beautification of Baramulla town and stressed for public cooperation in the regard.
