Govt committed to mitigate miseries of common masses: Hanjura

RAJOURI, MARCH 14: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura has said that state government is committed to mitigate the miseries of common masses and is coming up to the expectations and aspirations of the people of the State.

The Minister said this after inaugurating the Exhibition cum KisanMela at Rajouri. He said that purpose of organizing the KisanMaila in this remote area of the state is to provide awareness among local farmers about scientific and innovative methods in agriculture sector.

On the occasion, the Minister directed the Agriculture and its allied departments that they should regularly organize KisanMelas, exhibitions and other awareness programmes in these areas which would ultimately help farmers to increase their income.

The Agriculture Minister said that both the central and state governments had already announced several schemes for the benefit of the farmers. Prime Minister FasalBimaYogina, Prime Minister Krishi SichayiYogina and other schemes are aimed to increase the productivity and double the farmer’s income by 2022.

Hanjura said that Jammu and Kashmir is an Agricultural state as most of the people are directly or indirectly related to agricultural and its allied department. He said that it has become imperative for the department to provide innovative methods in agriculture so that monthly income of farmers would be increased.

On the occasion, the Minister inspected various stalls set up for Agriculture and its allied sectors. During the Kissanmela, different departments had displayed new technology introduced in the agriculture sector to increase the income of farmers.

The Minister also interacted with the farmers and distributed prizes among them.

District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Director Agriculture Jammu, H.K. Razdan, Director Sericulture Mir Tariq Ali and other senior officers of the Agriculture and its allied departments were present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the Minister also addressed a public Meeting at Rajouri.

During the meeting, the Minister said that government is providing equal opportunity of growth and development to every citizen of the state. He assured the people that the government has initiated revolutionary steps under the leadership of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to solve day today problems of the common masses.

He said the developmental activities initiated by the Government have changed the socio-economic profile of the people of the state especially those living in hilly and far flung areas. He also stressed the need to develop trust and maintain coordination among local administration for speedy development and better delivery of Government schemes on the ground.

He directed the concerned officers to take into confidence the local representatives while formulating new schemes, projects and other development programmes to ensure need-based development.
