CEC Kargil asks youth to take benefit of incentives, soft loans in tourism sector

KARGIL MARCH 11:- Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC) Kargil Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan today called upon the unemployed youth to come forward and take benefit of the Government incentives and soft loans available in the tourism sector.

The CEC stated this while addressing the participants of the two days orientation cum awareness programme for the youth on prospects in the tourism sector which concluded at Conference Hall Baroo here today.

Deputy Commissioner Haji Gulzar Hussain, Senior Superintendent of Police Tsering Gylapo, Assistant Director Tourism Aga Syed Toha, Member All Kargil Travel Trade Association (AKTTA) Haji Muhammad Parvez Bagh, several officers of the administration and other participants were also present on the occasion.

Kacho said that the major objective behind organizing an awareness programme of this nature is to spread awareness among the local unemployed youth about the training programmes available in the tourism sector so that youth from the district is in a position to acquire jobs and start their business ventures in the tourism sector which has immense potential and bright prospects in Kargil in the times to come.

The CEC said that the Council is keen to give a fillip to the tourism sector in the district and several concrete measures like the development of new potential sites, strengthening of infrastructure, national level publicity campaigns, provision of incentives and soft loans and other key measures are underway.

He added these efforts have borne fruits with the enhancement of top-class accommodation facilities to the tourists at hotels and camping sites.

Meanwhile, members of AKTTA and participants highlighted issues like opening up of a Food Craft Institute at Kargil, introduction of diploma and certificate courses in tourism and hotel management at ITI and Polytechnic Kargil, sponsorship to local unemployed youth for skills training in tourism management and training programmes to the members of Taxi Operators Union.

The two days orientation cum awareness programme was organized by Tourism Department Kargil under the aegis of LAHDC, Kargil, wherein the resource persons from the Food Craft Institute Leh imparted awareness to around 150 participants between 18 to 35 years of age on various trades of hotel management like Food Production, Food and Beverage Service, Housekeeping Operation and Front Office Operation.
