CS review progress of flagship SBM programme

JAMMU, MARCH 10: Chief Secretary, B B Vyas today chaired a video conference with Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to review the progress of the flagship Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM).

Financial Commissioner, Housing & Urban Development Department, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Director Rural Sanitation and other senior officers were present. Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir participated in the meeting through video conference.

District wise status of number of Individual Household Latrines (IHHLs) and Community/public toilets constructed and the progress of their verification and geo-tagging was reviewed in the meeting.

Chief Secretary directed the DCs to ensure that Open Defecation Free (ODF) timelines fixed for their respective districts are adhered to and called upon the districts lagging behind to make a determined push for the purpose.  He stressed on 100% geo-tagging of assets, ODF verification and uploading of updated information on IMIS.

Emphasizing the importance of the flagship programme, Chief Secretary said that the progress of SBM is being monitored at the level of the Prime Minister himself. He urged DCs to review the progress on weekly basis and energize the offices concerned with its implementation to meet the fixed ODF timeframe.
