Kohli reviews progress on various projects taken up by ASH Deptt

JAMMU, MARCH 08:   Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Gani Kohli today asked the Animal and Sheep Husbandry (ASH) Department to speed up the pace of work on all ongoing developmental projects including construction on Stock Assistant Training Institute at Bari Brahmana, Poultry Farm at Nagrota, Belicharana so that can be completed in a stipulated time frame.

The Minister gave these directions while chairing a meeting to discuss and review the pace of progress of various under execution projects besides also took stock of physical and financial achievements registered under various schemes included Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (DEDS) and Poultry Development Programme, here today.

Taking stock of medicines and other surgical instruments, the Minister instructed the concerned to purchase the same as per the prescribed norms immediately. The purchases should be purely of high quality and ensure that the funds earmarked for the current year should be utilized in full.

During the meeting, detailed discussion was also held on the establishment of Veterinary University in the State.

The Minister asked the concerned officers of the department to make all existing hospitals fully functional and directed to deliver the services to the people properly.

Kohli took serious note on slow pace of utilization of the available funds and directed the department to meet the targets sets for the current year. He directed the officers to conduct field visits and ensure proper vaccination of livestock.

Among others, Commissioner Secretary Animal/Sheep Husbandry R K Bhagat, Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, Y D Sharma, Director Sheep Husbandry Jammu, Sanjeev Kumar and Senior Officers of ASH department were present in the meeting.
