Jammu/ Islamabad, Mar 07: Indian and Pakistani troops once again trades fire and mortar shells in Sunderbani sector along the Line of Control in Rajouri and Jammu districts.
“Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatics and mortars from 1030 hours in Sunderbani sector along LoC in Rajouri district,” a defence spokesman said, adding the Indian Army effectively retaliated.
“Pakistani troops also violated the ceasefire in Keri and Khour areas of Akhnoor sector of Jammu district,” official sources said.
There was a brief lull in firing and shelling along the LoC in the past two days.
Firing and shelling along the LoC and the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir have left 21 people, including 12 security personnel, dead and more than 80 others, mostly civilians, injured this year.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Army has claimed that it shot down an Indian “spy drone” in Chirikot sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir after it entered its airspace.
The Pakistan military in a statement overnight also said its troops retrieved the wreckage.
“Pakistan Army troops shot down an Indian spy drone while it violated the LoC in Chirikot sector,” it alleged.
“This is 4th drone which has been shot down by Pakistan Army troops in last one year,” it claimed.
