Srinagar, Mar 07: The brother of Editor Uqab, Manzoor Anjum passed away late Tuesday night and was laid to rest at Nishat, in the outskirts of Srinagar today.

Ali Mohammad Shah, elder brother of Anjum, passed away at a local hospital here after brief illness. Shah, who was working as an engineer in the Public Works Department was living in Brein Nishat after his retirement.

As per Shah’s family, his death will be mourned for three days followed by ‘Fateha Khwani’ on Friday after the culmination of Zuhr prayers at the graveyard in Brein Nishat.

Shah is survived by two sons. His elder son, Dr Khalid Shah, a renowned scientist is based in US while his younger son Raashid works in Netherlands.

Kashmir Editors Guild (KEG) expressed grief over the demise of Ali Mohammad Shah, elder brother of Manzoor Anjum, Chief Editor, Daily ‘Uqaab’.

The editors’ body prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.

“We stand with the family in this hour of grief and pray for their forbearance to overcome this loss,” the editors’ body said in a statement issued here.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has condoled with Editor Uqaab, Manzoor Anjum over the demise of his elder brother, who passed away today at Srinagar.

The Chief Minister has prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul while extending her heartfelt sympathies to Anjum and other members of the bereaved family.

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee president G A Mir also expressed deep sorrow and grief over the passing away of Ali Mohammad Shah.

In a condolence message, Mir expressed solidarity with bereaved family, especially Manzoor Anjum, saying that the departed soul was an upright personality.

Mir also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.

Meanwhile, the entire team of office bearers of the recently established Kashmir Press Club on Wednesday expressed their solidarity with the Editor of “Daily Uqaab”, Manzoor Anjum during this hour of grief .

The KPC members, in a statement, prayed for the departed soul and extended their condolences to Manzoor Anjum and other members of the bereaved family for the loss they have suffered due to the demise of their elder in the family.
