Srinagar, Mar 04: Shifting of Dr. Muhammad Qasim Faktoo to Udhampur Jail is a “well-sorted conspiracy to kill the ailing leader”, Muslim Deeni Mahaz (MDM) alleged on Sunday.

General secretary MDM, Muhammad Maqbool Bhat said that the ailing leader was taken for a health checkup on March 03, 2018, and “instead of being brought back to central jail, he was shifted to Udhampur.”

“It is blatant deception even as the court had clearly directed the Jail authorities to lodge him at Central jail,” he said.

Maqbool said that the transfer of Dr Qasim is against the Supreme Court rulings as the apex court has already judged that an incarcerated person should be held at a detention facility nearest to his home.

“Doctor sahab is already facing a lot of ailments like Glaucoma, L4, L5 Disc problem and we doubt whether proper healthcare would be provided to him in Udhampur jail,” he said.

He said the incarceration of Dr Qasim is a “political vendetta against him and now shifting him away from his family shows that the government and administration is hell-bent to rake up difficulties on him to satisfy their ego.”

“The proper way forward would have been to follow the law in his case and release him as he has completed 25 years in jail, but the Indian government and its local stooges have shredded every word of the book of law in Dr sahab’s case,” he said.
