Power for all: Union Cabinet secretary reviews progress on rural electrification
Coverage of remaining 70 J&K villages to complete by April: CS
JAMMU, MARCH 01: Union Cabinet Secretary, Pradeep Kumar Sinha Thursday reviewed the status of implementation of the rural electrification programme with the concerned Union Secretaries and Chief Secretaries of Jammu & Kashmir, Chhattisgarh and Arunachal Pradesh.
As on today, out of the 18452 villages identified in the country for electrification in 2015, only 910 villages remain to be electrified including 70 in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Cabinet Secretary urged the states to complete the electrification of these remaining villages by or before April, 2018.
Chief Secretary, J&K, B B Vyas informed that electrification in 6312 villages in the state has been completed and only 70 more villages remain un-electrified. He said these 70 remaining villages will be electrified following both grid and off-grid approach and task is expected to be completed by April 15th, 2018.
