Anantnag: Unidentified gunmen fired upon a civilian and injured him near Eidgah Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday evening.

The civilian identified as Ajaz Ahmed Shah, son of Ali Mohammad Shah, sustained serious bullet injures on his chest and was shifted to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Tral from where he was referred to a Srinagar hospital in critical condition.

Detailing the incident, a police spokesperson said that today at about 06:20 PM some unknown militants fired upon one Aijaz Ahmad Shah, aged about 38-years near Gol Masjid Tral.

“He was immediately taken to SDH Tral wherefrom he has been referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for treatment. His condition is stated to be critical,” he said.

Police is investigating the case, he added.

Meanwhile, two minor boys were injured in Anantnag village when some object they were fiddling with exploded, police said today.

Police said 14-years-old Liyakat Khan, son of Amjad Khan, and 12-years-old Ishfaq Khan, son of Aarif Khan, were injured when they were fiddling with some suspicious thing which exploded accidently near Panchayat Mohalla Rakh-e-Brah in the jurisdiction of Police Station Uttersoo.

Both the injured boys were shifted to a Srinagar hospital for treatment. The condition of both the injured is said to be stable, police said, adding that the case is being investigated.
