Workshop on disaster management held at IMPA

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 23: A day-long workshop on disaster management was held at IMPA today.

The workshop was organized by non-governmental organization (NGO) Hope Disability Centre in partnership with CARITAS India.

Speaking on the occasion, Joint Director Fire and Emergency service Mohammad Akbar said that human errors are main causes of domestic, and forest fire. In order to reduce major disasters, people should be made aware of the safety measures.

Assistant Director SDRF Ghulam Mohammad Dar highlighted the vulnerability of earthquakes, floods and other disaster risks.

DSP State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Mohammad Ismail informed the role of SDRF in mitigating the aftermaths of disasters.

Deputy Director Tourism Waseem Raja and Assistant Commissioner Revenue Masarat Ahmad also delivered lectures on the cost-effective Disaster Management Policy which will reduce the major loss of life and property in our state.

Executive Director HOPE Disability Centre Sami Wani said that the main aim of this workshop is to contribute towards building a stronger system for disaster risk reduction and mitigation.
