Heavy artillery shelling rattles Hajipeer, Churdana frontier areas of Uri
Smoke and explosions of mortar shells create panic :Locals
Baramulla: Light machine gun firing and artillery shelling continues to rattle Hajipeer and Churanda area in Uri sector in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district after Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged light and heavy mortar shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) on Thursday.
Sources said that Pakistan and Indian Army exchanged light and heavy
artillery fire. Pakistan troops fired shells at several locations in Hajipeer and Churanda in Uri sector today morning and such was the intensity of shelling that mortar shells landed in Churanda village and adjecent forest area.
“It is all smoke and explosions of motor shells which we can hear and see. Panic has gripped the border villages here, ‘Lal Din of Salikote.
Locals said that people stay indoors in Churanda, Batgrah, Tilawari, Salikote, Hathlanga and Sohra and no movement of people around.
Three days ago, three persons got injured including a 48 year old woman Zuleka wife of Jamal Din of Churanda. However there were no reports of causality or loss of property.
