LeT associate held with arms, ammunition in Uri: Police
Srinagar: Police along with security forces arrested a “terrorist associate linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT” and recovered incriminating materials, arms, and ammunition from his possession in the Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla.
Police in a statement said that on a specific input of terrorist movement in the Uri Kamalkoot Mandayan area, a joint patrol was carried out in the general area of Kamalkoot Mandayan by police and troops of Army’s 8 RR.
“During patrolling suspicious movement of one person coming towards the patrolling party by foot was observed. While seeing the police party and security forces, the suspect person tried to flee from the spot but the alert patrolling party apprehended him tactfully,” police said.
During preliminary questioning, he was identified as Farooq Ahmed Khokar, son of Salam Din Khokar, resident of Kalsi Kamalkoot.
During his search one pistol, two magazines and 20 pistol rounds were recovered from his possession, police said.
In this regard, a case under sections UA (P) & Arms Act has been registered in Police Station Uri and an investigation has been taken up, police said.
