Shopian shuts against militant killings

Srinagar, Nov 21: A complete shutdown was observed today in south Kashmir’s Shopian district to mourn the killing of four local militants in a gunfight in Nadigam village on Tuesday.

All the shops, business establishments and educational institutes remained shut while very sparse traffic was seen on the roads.

Four Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed on Tuesday in Nadigam village, some four kilometers from the main town Shopian.

A para commando was also killed and three soldiers suffered injuries during the gunfight.

At least 10 civilians, including three girls, were also injured in clashes with the government forces soon after the gunfight.
