Former minister, councilors, public delegations call on LG

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 11: Several delegations including former Minister,  Sham Lal Sharma, Councillors of Municipal Committee Udhampur, Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj, J&K All Clerical Staff Association and public delegation from Dachhan today called on the Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu here at the Raj Bhavan and sought Lt Governor’s intervention in redressing their concerning issues.

Sham Lal Sharma, former Minister apprised the Lt Governor about various issues regarding public welfare and overall development of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Lt Governor urged the former Minister to continue working vigorously for the advancement of the people’s welfare.

A delegation of Councillors of Municipal Committee Udhampur headed by  Sunil Sharma projected various demands pertaining to the establishment of Mini Secretariat, setting up of new housing colonies, additional funding for newly included wards of Municipal Committee Udhampur, creation of posts for Safai Karamcharis and sanitation staff.

A delegation of Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) led by its President,  R K Bhat submitted a memorandum of demands to the Lt Governor related to various welfare issues of the migrant Kashmiri Pandits including restructuring of PM’s rehabilitation package, settlement and rehabilitation of migrant Kashmiri Pandits, separate accommodation for Valley posted migrant employees and other employment related issues, protection of temples and shrines in Kashmir, political reservation etc.

J&K All Clerical Staff Association raised the issues related to their Career Progression, DPC, Secretariat training and separate training institute for non move clerical staff.

Imran Ali Shah, Social Worker put forth several issues pertaining to enhancement of facilities at Charar-e-Sharif shrine including upgradation of medical facilities, developmmet of library inside the Shrine, fencing of shrine area, implementation of Shrine Master plan etc.

Meanwhile, a delegation comprising of residents of Dachhan area, led by  Om Prakash Parihar also called on the Lt Governor and projected various developmental demands of the area including creation of Tehsil Level offices, strengthening of road connectivity & Power infrastructure, employment of local youth in Pakal Dul Hydropower project, college and a separate education zone at Tehsil Dachhan, imparting training to local youth in various trades etc.

On being apprised about the need to augment the water supply, the Lt Governor observed that the Government is committed to provide water to every household through an ambitious programme “Har Ghar Jal” under Jal Jevan Mission.

The Lt Governor interacted with the members of the delegations and gave a patient hearing to the issues and demands projected by them. He assured them that all the genuine issues raised by them would be taken up for examination.

The Lt Governor observed that the developmental and other concerning issues of the people of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir would be addressed through an effective mechanism laid down by the government.
