Srinagar, Feb 4: Jammu and Kashmir Employees Coordination Committee (JKECC) a body representing several employees unions Tuesday asked the government to earnestly resolve the issues confronting 4.5 lakh employees of the newly carved out Union Territory.

The umbrella body appealed the Lieutenant Governor, GC Murmu to end the trend of allotting additional charges to the officers who they claimed don’t do justice with the people being overburdened.

“We want the trend of allotting additional charges to the officers to be ended as they feel overburdened and consequently fail to do justice with masses. Besides some major issues 4.5 lakh employees of Jammu and Kashmir face should also be resolved at earliest,” said JKECC President, Shah Fayaz addressing a press conference at Kashmir Press Club here.

He also appealed the government to ensure its employees who draw monthly salaries from Jammu and Kashmir Bank also avail the benefits of low interest loan facility like that of the bank employees.

Shah said they approached the bank authorities many a times in this regard but received a cold response from the other side.

“If government credits our salaries into JK Bank, why can’t we avail the benefits of low interest loan facility? We met the bank higher-ups many a times and requested them to treat government employees at par with their own but our genuine plea was ignored,” he added.

Employees leader also said the issue of ReT’s who awaits justice for over the years should be resolved at the earliest and the committee constituted by the government submits its report without causing any further delay.

JKECC also appealed the UT administration to regularize all casual, need base, contractual and daily wagers working in different departments.
