One civilian killed, four injured in cross LoC fire

Karnah: One civilian was killed in Tad area of Karnah sector today in Pakistani fire as Indo-Pak troops exchanged heavy fire along the Line of Control (LoC).

Defense sources said that troops from Pakistani side violate ceasefire in the sector around 5 pm on Monday. Indian army retaliated and the firing and shelling continued for hours.

Sources said that one civilian got killed in Pakistani fire. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Saleem, son of Aalam Din of Dhani. He was on way to Tad when hit.

Sources said that Chowki Officer Tad, Nazir Ahmad Wani rushed to the spot and retrieved the body of the slain man.

Four civilians were also injured in the firing. One of the injured has been identified as Khushal, son of Mohammad Yasin of Tad.

The areas where shells fired from Pakistani side fell are Tad, Dhani, Sadpora, Prada, Amrohi and Chamkot.

Reports said that 30 to 35 houses were damaged in shelling in the villages of Prada, Tad, Amrohi, Dhani and Sadpora.

Last evening too there was exchange of fire in Jada village of Tangdar sector. Reports said that a shell hit the house of one Qalamdin son of Sulaiman causing damage to it.

Reports said that some cattle too were killed after hit by shells.

The people of the entire area have once again appealed the Lt Governor administration to make bunkers for locals as the area has been witnessing frequent ceasefire violations.
