“Yesterday at 8 am in the morning, I admitted my wife Safeena Begum in SDH Pattan. She was writhing in pain as until 10 PM as no surgeon was present in the hospital and Block Medical Officer did not bother to refer the patient to some other hospital,” Dar said, adding that it was because of the delay that his newborn baby couldn’t survive.

Today Dar’s family joined by some locals staged a strong protest against doctors and BMO, alleging sheer negligence by them.

Shouting slogans against erring doctors and BMO, demanded action against them.

“The BMO Pattan happens to be the sister of CMO Baramulla; so she hardly bothers about poor patients and rudely behaves with patients and attendants as she seems accountable to no one,” the protesting people alleged.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case in this regard and seized the medical records of the patient and started investigations.

Block Medical Officer (BMO), Dr. Tasavur Khan said the woman was admitted in the hospital and her foetus was in good condition.

“While delivering the baby, the baby got stuck due which it died. We could not save the baby as our priority remains mother,” she added.

She added that she would look into the matter and investigate it.
