DDC Ganderbal takes stock of sanitation, other facilities at Baltal

GANDERBAL, JULY 07: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ganderbal, Hashmat Ali Khan today visited Baltal Base Camp along with a team of District officers where he chaired a meeting to take stock of sanitation and other arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra-2019 (SANJY) via Baltal route.

The DDC was accompanied by ADC Ganderbal, Showkat Ahmad, ASP Ganderbal, SDM Kangan, Camp Director, AD FCS&CA, besides officials from other important departments.

During the meeting, DDC took stock of sanitation and various essential services. He also reviewed facilities of medical camps, tents, langers, availability of labours, pony walas, dandi walas,  provision of drinking water supply, fire wood, lighting, LPG, ration, Medicine etc.

The DDC directed the Camp Director and other functionaries responsible for sanitation in and around the Baltal base camp, Yatra track and en-route to keep special focus on cleaning of toilets / baths, drains, lanes, tent area, shops, huts besides keep a close watch to ensure no waste or plastic material is thrown into river Sindh or other water bodies.

Later the DDC along with all concerned officers visited langer sites and camp area and took a first-hand appraisal of facilities being provided to the yatris.

While visiting various langars and community kitchens to assess the quality of food provided to the Yatris, the DDC advised them to maintain utmost hygiene and also to maintain the quality of food items being served to the yatris. He also directed Food Safety Officer to test food items from langers on daily basis to ensure all safety parameters are met.

He also exhorted upon camp director to ensure fire extinguisher equipment is fitted in every camp and all important facilities including clean bedding, sleeping bags, blankets etc. are available so that yatris staying in these camps do not face any inconvenience.

He directed all senior officers to personally supervise the arrangements pertaining to their departments at all levels and directed the field staff of the department to continuously keep inspecting the facilities throughout the Yatra period besides put every effort for improvement with regard to safe, secure and convenient yatra.

He stressed all the departments for up-gradation and improvement of the facilities besides coordinating efforts for providing best quality services to the Yatries.
