Dr Farooq resents traffic disruption on highway

Srinagar, Jun 23: Member Parliament and National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that security forces should not stop public and private transport on Jammu and Srinagar Highway and harass people while they are traveling.

“When I was traveling towards Pahalgam yesterday, I saw security forces stopping vehicles, harassing drivers. They shouldn’t hamper smooth travel of the people. This should stop. Nowhere in the world do we see people stopped on highways and harassed,” he told reporters in Pahalgam after Teeing off a golf tournament, KNS reported.

Movement of public and private transport was banned for two days in a week during parliamentary elections by the government after the Lethpora fidayeen attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed. However, the ban order was later revoked. (KNS)
