SRINAGAR, MARCH 17: Minister for Relief, Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Floriculture, Javaid Mustafa Mir inaugurated floriculture fair at Floriculture Mandi, Rajbagh here today.

The Fair was organized by Department of Floriculture with an aim to showcase their activities and success stories of growers all over the valley.

On the occasion, the Minister said that with the introduction of latest technology in floriculture, the sector has the potential in filliping socio-economic conditions of the farming community in the State.

Later, he went to the stalls which were set up by growers registered with the department. He lauded the usage of the modern equipment in the field and achievements of growers.

On the occasion, growers apprised the Minister about the difficulties being faced by them during cultivation which include lack of heating facility in the winter season.

Referring to the achievements registered by the Department, Director Floriculture MathoraMasoom said that floriculture has a lot of potential in providing livelihood to the youth as it is evident from the success stories from the Valley growers.

Deputy Director Floriculture, Nazir Ahmad Reshi said that agro-climatic conditions of Kashmir are highly suited for the production of flowers and in this regard, the department is providing infrastructure, manure and plant material on subsidized rates to the cultivators.

District Floriculture officers, farmers and other concerned were also present on the occasion.
