Youth held while trying to cross LoC handed over to families

Baramulla: Army on Saturday said that it foiled an exfiltration bid by arresting four youths from different parts of valley in Boniyar area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla and handed over the youth to their families.

In a hurriedly convened press conference at EME unit Baramulla, Commander 79 Mount Brigade Girish Kailya said that all four youths who were held “on path of violence” have been handed over to their respective families, reported news agency.

flanked by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramula, Brigadier Garesh Kailya said that based on a specific input about the movement of the newly recruited group which was on their way to exfiltrate the Line of Control (LoC) via upper reaches of Limber area in Boniyar, a joint team of 161 TA army, Baramulla police and 53 Battalion of CRPF apprehended all of them late last night.

“Repeated calls from families and security forces had failed to persuade them to return home. An extensive manhunt to apprehend them prior to joining militants groups was launched all across the valley. And the youth was arrested,” he added.

The officers identified the arrested youth as Adil Ahmad Dar (22) son of Ghulam Hassan Dar of Hardu Hangir Yaripora Kulgam, Tahir Shamim Lone (19) son of Shamim Ahmad Lone of Kapren Shopian, Sameer Bhat (18) son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat of Seer Dari Sopore and Naveed Parra (19) son of Ghulam Nabi Parra of Tapper Pattan.

He said that after questioning, the youths were handed over to police in presence of their families.
