Tourism Dept organizes Tawi Darshan at Dudu

UDHAMPUR, JUNE 15: Directorate of Tourism, Jammu in collaboration with PEACE organization today organized Tawi Darshan at Dudu Village, Udhampur.

On this occasion a grand Abhishek and Aarti of Suryaputri Tawi, the symbol of Jammu’s History culture and religious ethos was performed.

The Tawi Darshan was inaugurated by Director Tourism Jammu, O P Bhagat.

Speaking on the occasion, C.E.O Patnitop Development Authority Pran Singh said that tawi is the lifeline of Jammu, so, to create awareness amongst people about its source and also to promote Dudu and areas like Latti, Sudhmahadev, Mantalai etc. the event was proposed to be conducted here.

He said that on 14th June, a cleanliness drive of entire area surrounding Tawi and at its origin was initiated by PEACE organization with help of local students and today  first of its kind Aarti and traditional Abhishek of River Tawi was done. Earthen lamps floating on holy water, sacred chants and aroma of mesmerizing incense made everyone part of this celestial happening.

Later, a cultural programme was organized by local artists which thoroughly blended in the ambience of Tawi giving everyone an experience beyond words.

Meanwhile, Prof. Shiv Datt Nirmohi the prolific writer of the region addressed the audience with respect to River Tawi its source origin and course. He urged for the need to keep the river clean and give back to it its original crystal clear looks.
