Let’s Play Football: Despite rain, 16 matches played on second day

Ganderbal June 12: Rain and inundated ground of Physical Education College did not stop the girl footballers to kick on as all 16 matches scheduled today were played.

In under-16 category 7 matches were played. Samba beat Anantnag by 1-0. Anju Devi scored only goal of the match.Leh beat Ramban 2-0, Kargil beat Pulwama by 2 goals to 0, Nasreen scored two goals for Kargil. Doda beat Rajouri 1-0 and Udhampur thrashed   by 3-0. Najam Iram and Firdousa scored a goal each.

Bandipora beat Budgam by three goals to nil and Baramulla won the match against Jammu by 1-0.

In under-17 category 7 matches were played.  Baramulla beat Doda by 1-0, Shayista scored goal for Baramulla, Rajouri won against Pulwama with 2-0. Kargil emerged victories against Kupwara by 2 goals to nil.

Kulgam progressed to next round as their opponents were not present for the match. Srinagar got victory agisnt Kishtwar by 2-0.Sara scored both the goals for Srinagar.

In a loop-sided match Leh thrashed shopian by 6-0. Ganderbal defeated Anantanag​  by 3 goals.

In the mega event, 88 teams –both boys and girls– from all over J&K in two age groups of Under-13-16 and Under-17-19 are participating. More than 1200 players and officials are participating in the event.
