Sarita Chauhan chairs maiden Executive Committee meet of Samagra Shiksha

SRINAGAR, JUNE 03: Commissioner Secretary School Education Sarita Chauhan today held the first Executive Committee meeting of Samagra Shiksha (Chirag Society) here to review its performance.

The meeting was attended by Chairperson Board of School Education Veena Pandita, State Project Director (SPD) Samagra Shiksha Arun Manhas, Director School Education Kashmir Mohammad Younis Malik, officials of Planning, Finance and other allied departments while as Director School Education Jammu Anuradha Gupta participated via video conferencing.

During the meeting, Commissioner Secretary took a detailed review of Samagra Shiksha in the State and directed the concerned officials for expediting the work on all the languishing projects.

SPD Samagra Shiksha informed the meeting that 22570 schools have been provided funds under school grant through Samagra Shiksha while as 2063 students have visited different states across the country under the ‘Student Exchange Programme’.

The meeting was also informed that establishment of Science Centres, Aero Modelling Clubs and Astronomy Clubs across the state in all district headquarters is in progress.

On the occasion, Sarita Chauhan appreciated the efforts of both Samagra Shiksha and School Education Department for conducting training courses for teachers. She directed the concerned officials that experts from colleges and universities should also be involved for these training purposes.

She directed BOSE officers to expedite the process of distribution of free textbooks in all the districts, especially in far-flung areas.

She further directed the officials of School Education Department that the process of distributing uniforms should be accelerated and a detailed report should be submitted in due time.
