Karnah: Kandi Bella village in Karnah area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district is reeling under darkness from past three months as Power Development Department (PDD) has failed to repair the defunct transformer.
Residents of Bella Mohalla Kandi Village of Tanghdar Sub Division said that from last three months, the area is without electricity. They claimed that in February this year, the transformer of the village developed technical snag but has not been repaired so far.
“We are being forced to use kerosene lamps and candle during night. Our children are being forced to study under the candle light. The power has not been restored even in the Holy month of Ramzan,” said Alyas Ahmad, a local resident.
The residents appealed PDD higher authorities to repair the damaged transformer at an earliest so that residents heave a sigh of relief.
