JAMMU, MAY 27: Development Commissioner, PWD, Sunil Kumar Gandotra, along with Director Agriculture, Jammu, P. S. Rathore, today visited Potato Development Farm, Kotali Mian Fateh, to discuss project proposal regarding modernization of the farm besides reviewing development works there.

Gandotra, during interaction with the officers, called for strict adherence to the norms and rules relating technical sanctions, administrative approvals and e- tendering while implementing development works. He had detailed discussion on different aspects of DPR of modernization project of Potato Development Farm Kotli Mian Fateh.

Director, while speaking on the occasion, informed that after modernization this Potato farm will act as a Demonstration-cum-Training Centre for the local potato growers as well as farmers from other parts of state.

It was   informed that modernization project of Potato Development Farm included construction of irrigation channels, farm drainage system, farm fencing, land leveling and other renovation works.

Potato Development Officer, A. S. Reen, apprised that Short Duration Potato Varieties like Kufri Surya, Kufri Khayati, Kufri Gaurav are being introduced soon in the Farm which will enable the farmers to take advantage of the early potato market, there by fetching good price for their produce.

Assistant Soil Conservation Officer, Jammu, Jahangir Shafi, Farm manager, Potato Development Farm, Sanjay Bakaya, AEO information, Vikas Sharma, besides other concerned officials were present on the occasion.
