ANANTNAG, MAY 06: Market checking squads headed by concerned Tehsildars and comprising of officials of Revenue, Police, Food Civil Supplies and Consumers, Legal Metrology and Municipalities today conducted checking in various markets of the Anantnag district.

The teams inspected the markets of Anantnag town, Mattan, Bijbehara, Pahalgam, Kokernag , Larnu, Aishmuqam, Verinag, Dooru, Qazigund and other places .

During the drive a fine of Rs 55250 was realised from erring traders, besides 153 Kilograms of rotten vegetables, other eatables and adultered milk was destroyed on the spot.

The shop keepers were directed to display the rate lists prominently, ensure adherence of food safety norms and desist from indulging in black marketing and hoarding.

It was given out that such drive will be conducted on routine basis.
