DDC reviews progress of SBM in Anantnag

ANANTNAG, MARCH 13: District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Mohammad Younis Malik today chaired a meeting of officers from Urban Development Department to review the progress achieved, so far, under centrally-sponsored Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) in the district.

The meeting aimed to accelerate the efforts to achieve total sanitation coverage and to declare Anantnag district Open Defecation Free (ODF) by October 2018.

During the meeting, the DDC reviewed the area wise performance of various blocks of the district under Swachh Bharat Mission and set the timelines for completion of all pending works in the current financial year in time bound manner.

It was given out that, 4947 applications were received under SBM for construction of Individual Household Latrines (IHLs) of which 2753 were verified and 517 IHL units were completed. Further, 112 units are under progress and Rs.50 lakh has been released under the SBM for the Anantnag town.

The DDC also reviewed the progress of works in Urban areas of the district and directed the concerned officers to clear the pending claims of the contractors within a week’s time so that cent percent physical and financial targets are achieved.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Anantnag, Reyaz Ahmad Sofi, CPO Anantnag and other officers of the Urban Development Department.
