Srinagar: Five gamblers were arrested by the police in Bandipora, a police spokesman said in a statement issued here.

Five persons were arrested following input about gambling activities in Naininara area of Sumbal, Bandipora, the spokesman said.

“Playing cards and a stake amount of ₹4840 was recovered from the gamblers,” he said, adding, case FIR No 66/2019 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Sumbal.

Meanwhile, three persons were arrested following input about gambling activities in Shah Mohalla Ahmadnagar area of Soura, Srinagar, said the spokesman.

He said that playing cards and a stake amount of ₹18,200 was recovered from the gamblers.

“Case FIR No 25/2019 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Soura,” he said.
