Policeman dies in a road accident at Baramulla

Baramulla:  One policeman identified as Shafoor Ajaz Wani son of Ghulam Hassan Wani resident of Zandfaran, Sheeri met with a tragic road accident near Veerwan in District Baramulla while on his way to DPL Baramulla.

A police spokesman said that Shafoor Ajaz was on a motorcycle when an Alto car hit the motorcycle injuring him grievously. He was evacuated to hospital for the treatment, however, at the hospital he succumbed.

Police has registered a case FIR No. 55/2019 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Baramulla. The Alto car bearing Registration No. JK05F 4668 has also been seized in the matter. Accused driver has fled from the spot and police is making efforts to arrest him, he said.

Shafoor was the lone bread earner for his family. He is survived by wife Sakeena and three minor children aged nine, seven and one.
