PDP welcomes leaders of various political groups into its fold

Srinagar:  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday welcomed functionaries of various political groups into the PDP, expressing hope that the new entrants will work towards further strengthening the party on ground.

According to party spokesman, nephew of veteran NC leader Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Shah,  Touseef Shah along with scores of his supporters joined PDP. Shah was a senior leader of Awami National Conference prior to joining the PDP.

Furthermore, contesting candidate from Anantnag parliamentary constituency- Riyaz Ahmad Bhat- also joined the party and declared his support to the party President Mehbooba Mufti who is contesting the coming LS polls from South Kashmir’s Anantnag.

Party spokesman said that Congress block President  Syed Shabir Kawak along with his supporters also joined the PDP on Tuesday.

Besides party President Mehbooba Mufti who welcomed the new entrants into the party fold, Parliament member Fayaz Ahmad Mir, MLC Mohammad Khurshid Alam, Noor Mohammad, Firdous Tak and several others were present on the occasion.
