Srinagar, Apr 13: Police on Saturday filed a case against Army’s 32 RR for allegedly beating a youth in Rafiabad area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Reports said that scores of people took to streets at Rafiabad and staged a protest against the beating of the youth.

They said two youths were travelling in a car when soldiers of 32 Rashtriya Riffles stopped them and thrashed one of them — identified as Tariq Ahmed Rather, son of Nazir Ahmed Rather, resident of Laiser Rafiabad.

Soon after the incident, scores of people took to streets and blocked Handwara-Baramulla highway at Laiser over the beating. The protesters while demanding action against the erring soldiers.

Local news agency GNS quoted SSP Sopore Javed Iqbal as saying that FIR has been registered against the army-men and “we have started investigation into the incident.”
