Baramulla, Apr 06: An army soldier was Saturday shot dead inside his home in the Sopore area of Baramulla district by militants, police said.

The militants barged into the residence of Mohammad Rafi Yatoo, an army soldier, and fired at him indiscriminately, a police official said.

He said Yatoo was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to injuries.

Sources said that Yatoo, a soldier with JAKLI, was at home on leave when he was fired upon.

Confirming the incident, SSP Sopore Javid Iqbal said that the militants fired upon Yatoo from point-blank range and he suffered critical injuries, following which he succumbed.

Meanwhile, Army, Special Operations Group of Police and CRPF cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the attackers.
