Rathore inaugurates workshop on Precision-Irrigation Systems under PMKSY

JAMMU, MARCH 16: A one-day workshop-cum-seminar on advances in the field of Precision Irrigation Techniques was inaugurated by Director Agriculture Jammu P. S. Rathore at Krishi Bhawan here today.

The programme was held for the technology dissemination among the farmers, officers, technical staff and field functionaries of the Agriculture Department.

On the occasion, Rathore spoke about the vision of ‘Har Khet Ko Paani’ envisaged under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana and the objective of expansion of cultivable area under assured irrigation and ensuring ‘per drop more crop’ on-farm water management.

The Scheme, he said, is equally significant for un-irrigated areas and the irrigated areas as not only it aims to expand and increase irrigation facilities but to enhance farm water usage efficiency by use of precision irrigation technologies.

The participating farmers were exhorted upon to get full advantage of the workshop to update their knowledge and adopt latest, efficient and water-saving irrigation techniques through the use of Micro Irrigation Systems that includes Sprinkler Irrigation, Drip Irrigation etc.

Representatives of different empanelled companies viz M/S Alpha Environmental Systems, V. K. Packwell Pvt. Ltd., GreavesPower Tillers displayed pumps, filters, pipes, drippers, valves, nozzles and other agricultural implements and machinery. Practical demonstration of Sprinkler and Drip Irrigation Systems was also given on the occasion.

Bulesh Kumar Zutshi, Joint Director of Agriculture (Inputs), Anil Arora, Joint Director of Agriculture (Extension), Sunil Koul, Deputy Director Agriculture (Trainings), Vinod Raina SMS (RL) and other senior officers of the Department were also present on the occasion.
