“The business community strongly condemns and registers its protest against repeated harassment of leader’s, institutions and organizations in Kashmir. There seems to be a concerted attempt to cause disruptions and to provoke peace loving population in the region,” said Farooq Amin, Secretary KCCI while addressing joint press conference here.

He said the socio-religious institutions have been the part of history and Kashmir’s culture and their role in upliftment of poor, supporting orphans and imparting education and Islamic values to majority of the population is unparalleled.

Speaking on behalf of ten major trade bodies of Kashmir including KCC&I, KEA, KTMF, FCIK, SKCC, KTMF-R, JTA, BM SR Gunj, CT&MA and KWTA, he said attempt to weaken these institutions and their leaders by making motivated accusations is deemed as direct interference in religious affairs.

“We are of the firm conviction that under present abnormal conditions prevailing in the state, the government shall act more cordially to avoid harassment to Kashmiris,” the trade leader added.

He alleged that Kashmiris are being targeted economically and socially with a section of social and electronic media being used to tarnish the image of Kashmir.

“There are cases of murderous physical assaults, a number of innocent people and leaders have been jailed and are being intimidated. The valley appears to be under siege and our socio-religious institutions are being interfered with,” he alleged.
