Srinagar, Feb 18 : A civilian who was injured critically during the encounter on Monday wee hours, succumbed to injuries, even as a fresh exchange of gunfight was reported at the site of gunfight after a several hours lull at Pingleena area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A police officer told GNS that the civilian Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat (46) suffered critical injuries during the exchange of gunfight succumbed to injuries.

The officer also confirmed that the fresh exchange of gunfight resumed after more than three hours lull at the encounter site.

He said that the operation is still going on in the area.

Four armymen including a major died and another was injured during the initial exchange of gunfight.

The gunfight broke out today morning after a joint team of army’s 55 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation following a “credible inputs” about the presence of two to three militants in the area. (GNS)
