DSE, DDC PCR kick start workshops on “Substance Abuse among Young Population, Challenges and Responsibilities”

Srinagar: Directorate of School Education Kashmir and Police Drug De-addiction Center have together kick started a series of workshops on “Substance Abuse among Young Population, Challenges and Responsibilities”. The inaugural session of the workshop was held at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Rani Bagh, Anantnag.

A police spokesman said that the inaugural workshop witnessed a huge gathering of students from the school, employees including Principal of the School, local Police officers, civil society members, team of experts from DDC Anantnag and DDC PCR Kashmir and District Immunization Officer Anantnag.

Experts from the DDC PCR with the aid of audio-visuals deliberated on the classification of drugs and risk factors involved, besides necessary measures to be adopted while dealing with substance abusers.

In-charge DDC PCR briefed about the vulnerabilities faced from the environment and influence of peer pressure in luring youth towards the menace of drug addiction.

Among others, police officers from the concerned district also shared their experience while dealing with the menace of drug addiction and drug peddling in the area.

Local police officers have requested the community members to identify the individuals from their neighborhood who are habitual of substance abuse and seek the assistance of DDC in helping them to regain their normal lives.
