“Writing is not new to me as I used to write “poetry quotes” during my college days but would keep it to myself. After completing my master’s degree, I joined “Himalayan Bells International School” and started working as a teacher; besides, completing the Bachelor’s of Education (B.Ed) degree,” Rafia told Kashmir Images.

Rafia’s poetry collection centers around “the struggles faced by a girl while pursuing her education and career goals”, “women empowerment”; besides, one section of her poetry is about nature.

“After my poetry collection got published in December last year, everyone was surprised to see it because I had never told anyone about it,” said Rafia adding that she never consulted any professional help while compiling the poetry collection “but sought guidance from Insha Novelist of  Bijbhera, and professor Afshana, who teaches journalism at Kashmir University.

“I want to inspire the women folk through my poetry so that they would also come forward to share their struggles and successes,” she added.
