The affected family alleged that though they informed the administration, no official cared to visit the family.

In hilly village Galibal Hajibal, several residential hutments (Kacha houses locally known as kothas) came under mounds of snow and got damaged badly. Reportedly two persons sustained minor injuries.

A local Mohammad Amin told Kashmir Images on phone that with heavy snowfall, the affected area is inaccessible as of now.

However, efforts are on to clear a parallel route Baramulla-Hajibal in order to reach the area. The official sources said that snow cutters have been deployed on Hajibal route to access the affected village, Galibal.

“There are no reports of any causality but snow has damaged some kothas,” an official said.

In Bandipora, an under construction transmission tower of BBTL collapsed Thursday morning due to heavy snowfall.

Sources said that an under construction transmission tower of BBTL collapsed at Ajas village this morning due to snowfall.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shahid Chowdary in a tweet said that Chief Engineer concerned S&O started enquiring into the incident.

Heavy snowfall affected normal life in northern region and several areas remained cut off from the district headquarters and Tehsils besides power supply was badly affected.

‘Power supply was not resorted in Baramulla till late evening,” locals said.
